Off to a local restaurant tonight to say Bon voyage to one of my friends - she's off to further her career in Melbourne, so it's a happy but sad goodbye. At least this gives us another reason to visit Melbourne!!

I took these photos a few days ago, looked at them, decided I hated how I looked in every single shot, forgot about it, went back and decided to upload them anyway.

Yeah, I'm wearing my pink Factorie jeans again.  Mostly because none of my other pants really fit me, but also because I just really like them ;) And again, the outfit is really nothing groundbreaking, but the top is one I bought on a recent shopping trip (I have a haul post to do, man I'm getting behind in these posts), so I thought it might be useful to have a pic of me wearing it.

I wore this on the weekend when we went and visited my in-laws for lunch, the day after my birthday party (oh yeah, did I tell you it was my birthday?), so it was all very casual.

As promised, here is an Outfit Of The Day featuring my new pink jeans from Factorie.  I was just popping out to my sister's house for a visit and a cuppa, so I kept it casual and comfortable.  And I think I may go back and get these jeans in another colour.

Jeans: Factorie Baxter Jeans in Baby Pink
Top: Kenji
Jacket: Purchased during my trip to Britain in 2006, can't remember the store
Shoes: Sportsgirl

Every outfit needs inspiration, right?

01 April 2012, 7:21 PM

'Twas the first day of April today, and it was such a typical April day.  Nice cool morning, perfect for snuggling up in bed with a cup of tea (and the man), lazy breakfast catching up on blogs & YouTube videos, warmed up slightly around lunch time (but not too warm) with a light sprinkling of rain, and now it's 7pm and cool enough to curl up in a fluffy, albeit short sleeved, dressing gown.  Happy.

Today was my cousin's 21st birthday afternoon BBQ, so I had to dress myself and the burgeoning baby bump in something smart, but relaxed.  I must admit, getting dressed in something other than sweats is getting increasingly difficult and I imagine I'll be saying goodbye to the heels soon!

Dress: Temt (XL singlet top, but I've been wearing it as a dress)
Pullover: Temt (this season)
Boots: Deena and Ozzy via Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Diva, years ago
Watch: Urban Outfitters Asos.com (July 2011)
Sideways Cross Bracelet & 'Love' Ring: Sportsgirl
Nails: Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat & Chi Chi Disco Diva on tips.
Bump: Grew it myself

What else can I talk about this lovely Sunday evening?

I went and saw The Hunger Games on opening night last week - I went in with no expectations and was quite happy with it.  I thought the actual games themselves could've been a little more epic, but I suppose they did what they could with the PG rating.  I felt that they didn't make the tributes innocent enough, if that makes sense.  The careers were just a tad too hard-core.  They almost made up for it at the end with Cato's desperate speech, but not quite.  And I don't think they quite managed to show just how tough the games were.  I didn't really feel that Katniss had that much of a rough time before the fire started, and I'm not sure they managed to properly portray Katniss's feelings towards Peeta, but ah well.  That said, I think it was a very good book to movie adaptation.  I'll definitely be getting it on DVD when it comes out.

I can't wait for my maternity leave to start.  I'm finishing up in May, a month before my due date, so hopefully I get a couple of weeks to get organised and get a couple good sleeps in before she makes her debut.  I bought some bits and pieces for my hospital bag on Saturday - fluffy socks and nursing bras - so I'm slowly getting organised.  I'm on the 10 week countdown now!!

Looking forward to the short working week and the Easter weekend now - are you doing anything for the four day weekend?  Not sure of my plans yet, but a couple of my close friends happen to have their birthdays this weekend, so it's not going to be all rest and relaxation I'm sure.

Happy April everyone!

17 March 2012, 11:12 AM

As you will be able to tell by looking at the photos below, I've become quite a fair bit more pregnant since you last saw me.  I'm just about at the 28 week mark now, so closer to the end than not!  I've managed to get away with only buying one specifically maternity clothing item so far, jeans (which I love and are incredible), everything else has either been from my closet, or just purchased oversized from more inexpensive (ie. cheap) clothing stores like Temt.

I haven't managed to take any photos of said maternity ensembles so far because I've been terribly unorganised and it seems to take me quite a fair bit longer to get ready to head out the door.

But!

Last night I decided to get myself ready well in advance, mostly because I bought new leggings and shoes yesterday and wanted to blog about them.

Just so were clear, those are not my half marathon medals hanging on the mirror. And I clearly need to clean that mirror.
  • Top from Dotti - couple of years ago, but similar styles still around I'm sure
  • Leggings from Sportsgirl - I cant link directly to them, since the Sportsgirl site is a Flash based site, but they are the Panel Ponte leggings at Sportsgirl
  • Shoes from Miss Shop at Myer
  • Watch from Urban Outfitters - appears to be discontinued
  • Ring from Diva - a blatant ripoff of the YSL Arty ring and I love it
  • Nail Polish is Essie Bahama Mama - you can't really see it, but no doubt I'll so a post on it soon because I love it so.
I was so comfy in this outfit - we were just going to a casual BBQ at a friends house so there was no need for anything particularly fancy. Or heels.  I have to say these leggings are fantastic.  I know they're not of the 'cheap and cheerful' variety, but they are made of nice, thick, stretchy fabric so they feel like actual pants.  The dreaded bum-cheeks visible through too-thin leggings tragedy will not fall upon me whilst wearing these babies.  We've all seen that, and we all know, it ain't pretty.

They also have a jodhpur feel about them, due to the panelling across the thighs and calves, which I have found quite flattering.  The waistband is also nice and thick, which is great because it doesn't cut into the hips and I imagine will hold everything in on a jelly-belly (which I'm bound to have in a few months after The Child Birth).  Oh, and I have cuffed them up in case you were wondering.  They are full length leggings, but I thought they complemented the shoes a little better being slightly cropped.

I'm also taking myself and the baby-bump to a 21st birthday party tonight - theme is Uniforms.  I cannot think of a more difficult theme for a pregant lady...besides maybe a Pimps and Hoes party.  I think I'm going to end up just wearing an AFL footy jersey, my maternity jeans and hopefully some kind of heels.  Man, I'm going to look swell (well, maybe swollen would be a better term).

Catch yas!

27 August 2011, 9:41 PM

Happy weekend to you all!  We're having a quiet night in tonight; Joe is running the City to Surf 12k run tomorrow morning and has to get up at the crack of dawn - 5am.  It's only just gone 9pm and he's already asleep on the couch - has been for at least half an hour, bless.

I've spent the evening smiling at all my purchases from today.  Most of these were technically birthday presents since I used my gift cards and vouchers for most things.

Firstly, my morning was spent doing laundry and catching up on my favourite magazines:-

First up we have my purchases from Diva.  Usually, I would spend my money on rings, since they usually have a wide range, but today I felt like I couldn't find anything unique to what I already own.

I 'splurged' a little on this necklace - I say splurge because I never really spend more than $10 on one item at Diva - it was $20, and I love it. I love turquoise jewellery, but don't really own any.  I think this will be perfect with white and coral during summer.

I've been obsessed with big, chunky statement rings for so long now, they seem to be losing their appeal to me.  So when I saw these dainty little things, I knew immediately they would be mine.  $3.00 a piece.  Not even marked down.  Total steal.

This little bracelet was a last minute purchase I grabbed at the counter.  I don't own a lot of wristwear that I actually like, but this reminded me of summer as well.

My trip to Priceline wasn't particularly exciting today.  I really just went to get a new bottle of the Benzac cleanser I've been using lately.  I've been slacking a little lately with my skin care routine, but have recently bought a Sirius Beauty Skinsonic (which I'll review after a couple of weeks of use) and have been enjoying using this cleanser with is.  I've been breaking out lately, so hopefully this will get my skin back on track.

The tea tree oil is a hopeful purchase - I'm a bit naughty with my spot, I tend to squeeze and prod them, which is obviously not so good.  I'm hoping the tea tree gel will help stop the bacteria from spreading :(

I also picked up this bronzer since the Bourjois one turned out to be a massive fail.  Broke me out after two uses.  I didn't even really like the colour against my skin tone, and I hated the small amount of shimmer.  Smelled yum though, I'll give it that.

I haven't worn this yet, but there is no fragrance, so fingers crossed that means it won't break me out.  It's also completely matte.  Excellent.  I already have all the shiny-ness I'll ever need.

Also picked up a refill of my Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions foundation.  I freakin' love this stuff.  I find this is one of the only foundations I've tried that doesn't break me out.  Could that be due to the fact it claims to reduce blemishes? Who knows.  Apparently it contain salicylic acid - pour it on me!

The formula is medium coverage, which would probably build to full coverage if you so wanted it that way, stays on all day and - here's the best part - stays MATTE all day.

I am an incredible oily little person.  I hate it, but it's true. I have oily hair and an oily face.  But somehow, miraculously, this little beauty keeps the oil at bay.  I don't even need a setting powder.

I only got two pieces of clothing - I tried on so much, but nothing was really doing it for me.  I suppose it's that weird in-between weather - do I go for winter clothes, or do I go for summer clothes?

Both these items are from Sportsgirl and I LOVE them both.

This knit dress looks completely hideous hanging here, but I promise, it has the most flattering shape.  Love the tones of the beige and coral. And LOVE the flared sleeves.

The camera hasn't picked up the brightness of this amazing skirt.  In reality it's a striking neon pink.  The classic shape keeps it from being too loud - the hem falls mid-calf,pleats are flatteringly small and the material is semi-sheer (thankfully there is a slip underneath).

On another note, my mum and dad picked up this mascara for me from duty-free on their way to Bali last week.  I've been using it since last Saturday, and am finding it quite similar to my beloved Helena Rubenstein Lash Queen.

I think that's probably enough out of me for one night.  Hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow with a Nail File - I've got a few colours to catch you up on.  Oh, and I saw Essie's Bahama Mama today in store - how amazing is it?  Will definitely be a part of my next order.

07 July 2011, 7:52 PM

Weee, I'm on holidays again!  Yesterday was my obligatory first-day-of-holidays flop around lazy day, and today was my obligatory holiday shopping day. I didn't really get too much today, but this is what I've picked up over the past few weeks.

Cosmetics first.

Bloom lipgloss in Gypsy, Loreal Telescopic in Carbon Black, Loreal Super Line felt tip liquid liner in Silver Black, Bloom concealer, Batiste Dry Shampoo in Diva, Bloom Thirst Quencher Vitamin E Body Cream, Chi Chi polish in Disco Diva, Manicare Glam Nails top coat in Ice Ice Baby, Bourjois bronzer, Red Earth blush in Cherry Blossom.

I've had the bronzer for a couple of weeks - everyone was raving about it, and my old one had just run out so it seemed like a good idea at the time.  I'll admit, it is a nice colour and the scent is delicious, but I'm pretty sure it has been making me break out.  I'm assuming it's the scent. Sadface.

The nail polish is gorgeous - I'll have to do a swatch soon to show you, I can't explain it.  I wore it to my sisters Winter Wonderland themed birthday party and it was perfect.  Looked like ice.

I haven't really had a chance to try out much of anything else, but I'll let you know as we go along.  I'm looking forward to the blush :)

I've been obsessed with sideways crosses for a little while now and had been looking for a double ring with the design in gold.  Found this is Sportsgirl today, and decided to grab a matching bracelet too :)

I love this shirt - I've recently realised I'm quite partial to white button down shirt.  This one is by Bardot, is sheer, with cuffed sleeves and slightly military.  What's not to love?

And finally, a pretty pink t-shirt.  I can't believe that I'm such a girly-girl, but I don't - and I don't think I have ever - own a pink t-shirt.  I love this one from Sportsgirl, mostly because of the little knot.  Now I can't wait for summer to come back around so I can wear it with denim cut offs!
